In-12, green morocco, double gilt fillet, ornate spine, caissons drawn with double gilt fillets, interior lace, gilt edges on marble (Lortic fils). Third collective edition of the works of Étienne Jodelle (1532-1573), poet of the Pléiade and one of the greatest restorers of the French language in the 16th century. It is as rare and sought after as the previous ones. It includes the famous Ode de la chasse, the play Cléopâtre captive which is the first French classical tragedy, as well as funeral verses by Agrippa d'Aubigné on the death of Jodelle, Prince des Poëtes Tragiques. The title is adorned with one of the many typographical marks of Benoît Rigaud. A nice copy in Lortic morocco, without the last two leaves which are blank. Ex-libris Roger Senhouse.
