Ɵ Epithalame ou Chant nuptial, sur le mariage de très-illustres prince et princesse, Henry de Lorraine duc de Guise, et Catarine de Clèves contesse [sic] d'Eu. Paris, Près S. Victor, à l'enseigne de la Fontaine, 1570. 4-page booklet, burgundy chagrin, double cold fillet, spine decorated with the title in full, gilt edges (Lobstein-Laurenchet). Extremely rare first edition of this piece published on the occasion of the wedding of the "Balafré" in September 1570. The Epithalame, sung by two half choruses, one of young men, the other of young women, consists of 54 quatrains. It is followed by a sonnet To the tresillustre prince and reverendissime cardinal of Lorraine. Humanist and philologist, the poet Jean Dorat (1508-1588) was the teacher of the young Ronsard before sitting among the poets of the Pléiade. Notebooks yellowed by washing.
