Paris, Abel L'Angelier, 1603. 2 parts in one volume in-12, brown calf, boards and smooth spine entirely covered with a geometrical decoration of gilt fillets, gilt edges, modern lined morocco box (Binding of the period). Complete edition of the spiritual poems of Philippe Desportes (1546-1606), decorated with a porticoed title-frontispiece engraved in intaglio by Thomas de Leu. The first complete edition of the religious works of this poet was published by the same L'Angelier in 1603. A fine copy, in a remarkable binding with an extremely original and surprisingly modern geometrical decoration. This type of decoration is very rare and can be found on books of piety from the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the following century. Handwritten bookplate: Augustin Calon. From the Maurice Burrus library (I, 2015, n°53). Light staining on a few leaves, ink stains on the side edge. Binding restored (hinges, caps and corners), headband renewed.
