Ɵ the First Book of Poems. Paris, Pour Claude Gautier, 1578. In-4, purple morocco, triple gilt fillet, ornate spine, interior lace, gilt edges on marbling (Duru 1856). First edition of the only published collection of poems by Guillaume Belliard, a poet from Besançon who was notably the secretary of Queen Marguerite de Navarre, to whom this collection is dedicated and which includes the following works: the Délitieuses amours de Marc-Antoine & de Cléopâtre, the two Triomphes d'amour et de la mort, as well as imitations of Ovid, Petrarch and Ariosto.
