Ɵ the First Book of Poems. Paris, Pour Claude Gautier, 1578. In-4, purple morocco, triple gilt fillet, ornate spine, interior lace, gilt edges on marbling (Duru 1856). First edition of the only published collection of poems by Guillaume Belliard, a poet from Besançon who was notably the secretary of Queen Marguerite de Navarre, to whom this collection is dedicated and which includes the following works: the Délitieuses amours de Marc-Antoine & de Cléopâtre, the two Triomphes d'amour et de la mort, as well as imitations of Ovid, Petrarch and Ariosto. First draft poem, with numerous erasures and corrections, and variant with the printed version; 7 lines. One of the Poèmes des deux années (G.L.M., February 1955), reprinted in 1962 in La Parole en archipel. "House to receive God's abandoned, Back stoned and blue with stones"... René Char has recounted the genesis of this poem, born near the church of Notre-Dame du Lac, in Le Thor (Pléiade, p. 1251).

Dauphin & Fouché, 25A1. Uncommon first edition of this medical work by Louis-Ferdinand Céline, published under his real name, Louis Destouches. This was Céline's very first published book, just one year after his medical thesis entitled La Vie et l'œuvre de Philippe Ignace Semmelweis. A very well preserved copy, despite a tear on the edge of the front cover and at the bottom of the spine, as well as fold marks.
