Born into a family of artists, the young Claude Lefèbvre was destined for an artistic career. He studied under Eustache Le Sueur (1616-1655) and Charles Le Brun (1619-1690), a rigorous training that allowed him to enter the Royal Academy in 1663.
A specialist in portraiture, Lefèbvre painted the most eminent figures of his time. Here is the portrait of Louis Belissen, squire of the city of Narbonne known as a strong military place until the middle of the 17th century.
