EMPIRE ALLEMAND, règne de Guillaume II (1888-1918)

Luxury saber of superior officer of Infantry, model 1889. Gilt brass guard with three branches chased with oak leaves, with attachments decorated with the Prussian crowned eagle holding the imperial attributes, with the Emperor's figure and asymmetrical pontat decorated in continuation of the branches. Short-tailed cap decorated with a cartouche (blank) on a background of oak branches and ribbons. Rocket in black composition (?) watermarked, with applied number. Leather thumb strap. Flat-backed straight blade with the smaller half decorated in gold etching on a black background, with decorative motifs on one side, and a dedication in Gothic script "[Present] from Comrades to Major SPIEKER of the Officers' Corps of the 9th Rhineland Infantry Regiment, 160", on the other side; the other half, single-edged, with two wide gutters and ending in a point. Black painted iron scabbard with loop and strap. Blade length : 77 cm - Total length : 96.5 cm. Wear and scratches to the gilding; play in the filigree; some oxidation to the blade; oxidized scabbard with missing black paint, not holding on the blade.
