Exceptional and very important KIRMAN-LAVER carpet (Persia), end of the 19th century Dimensions : 500 x 346cm. Technical characteristics : wool velvet on cotton foundation. Ivory field, oblong with scrolls and garlands of flowers and foliage, decorated with a sumptuous starry rosette and crenellated royal blue, ruby and ivory with flowers, connected by two pendants, in the form of stylized oil lamp. Four polychrome spandrels with scrolls and exuberant flowers frame the whole. The seven borders (the seven steps of paradise), including the main royal blue are all richly decorated with garlands of flowers. (Very beautiful quality of execution).
