Primitive gilt metal clock with folio and stackfreed escapement Case gilded on hinge with protective cover with openwork arabesques and safety catch, the openwork caseband revealing the bell, the back also openworked and finely chiseled with flower motifs. Gilded dial with double indication Roman numerals for the 12 hours and Arabic for the 24 hours in the central part, arrow for the half hours and railway, a motif of foliage in the center. Mechanical movement with key winding, escapement with folio meeting wheel, stackfreed, iron wheels, plate stamped in an escutcheon with the hallmark "PS", visible wheel with numbers up to 12, two barrels, one for the mainspring and the other for the striking with hammer on bell. Diam. 72,5 mm PROVENANCE Sale by Maître Etienne Ader, Objets d'Art et de Bel Ameublement, Palais Galliera, March 29, 1966. This watch is similar to the first early watches made by the famous clockmaker Nicolas Schmidt, admitted as master in Augsburg in 1576.
