Jeanne de HARLAY, Marquise de MONTGLAT [circa 1580 - 1643] She was Lady-in-Waiting to the daughters of King Henry IV and then Governor of Mademoiselle, the daughter of GASTON, brother of Louis XIII. She married HARDOUIN de Clermont Lord of Saint-Georges. His son François de Clermont will be under Louis XIV Grand Panetier of France and Commander of the Holy Spirit. Piece on vellum signed by her hand, 14 x 26 cm, established in Paris on May 18, 1631: "We, the Lady of Saint Georges de Clermont, Marquise de MONGLAT, Governor of Mademoiselle d'Orléans" confess to have received from Mr Séraphin Le Ragois, Treasurer of Mademoiselle, the sum of seven hundred and fifty livres for the last three quarters of her pension for the year 1630.

Christophe de Harlay was the son of Achille de Harlay (1536-1619), President of the Paris Parliament, and Catherine de Thou; he married the daughter of Ennemond de Rabot, seigneur d'Illins, First President of the Dauphiné Parliament, and Anne de Bellièvre. The bride receives from her parents 6000 livres and 500 écus "for nuptial expenses"; the "house of the Petit Pallais de Lyon size en Rue St Jehan en laquelle habite apresent Monsieur de Laguiche Gouverneur du Lyonnois Foretz et Baujoullois"; a "grande maison de Grenoble située prez Saincte Clere [.. deubement meublee et speciallement une salle et deux chambres de tappisserie"; the castle and lands of Abbeaux en Viennois; 5600 écus pension; rings, gems and jewels worth 2000 écus... The groom brings the land and castellany of Beaumont en Gâtinais and a house in Paris, rue du Grand Chantier. Large painted miniature with the Harlay and Illins coats of arms, and a large initial A formed of branches supported by a man and perched by two eagles, as well as a rose bush. This contract is completed by 15 attachments: powers of attorney, inventories, ratifications, etc. Two are signed by Achille de Harlay, two others by Ennemond de Rabot d'Illins, and one by Claude Expilly (1561-1636, literary scholar and president of the Grenoble parliament). There is an "inventory of rings and gems", an "inventory of the silver vaysselle", a power of attorney signed by Christophe de Harlay and a copy of his will.
