FIRST EDITION of this rarely seen periodical. Size: +Sheet size: 31 x 20.5 cm / 12.2 x 8 in. +Image size: 21.5 x 17 cm / 8.4 x 6.6 in. Condition: in good/moderate condition, with soft handling creases at the edges. Some minor staining and light discoloration in the margins. Very clean image otherwise. From the very rare and famous set Die Fläche, Dekorative Entwürfe Neue Folge, Bound II. Published by Anton Schroll, Vienna. Next to the magazine 'Ver Sacrum' ('Sacred Spring'), 'Die Fläche' is one of the most beautiful collections of drawings by the artists of the 'Wiener Werkstätte', and the Viennese artist active at the turn of the century, such as Max Benirschke, Johanna Hollmann, Moritz Jung, Gustav Klimt, Minka Podhajska, Rosa Wachsmann, Franz von Zülow, and many others. "Die Fläche" (literally "The Surface"), produced in portfolio form, was formulated as a "Musterbuch", or book of models, graphic badges and poster designs, including posters, book designs (including dust jackets and endpapers), advertisements, wallpapers, textiles and many others. - Die Fläche', like 'Ver Sacrum', has been designed as an art object (Kallir).
