Description

Rare and important BRACELET worked and articulated with four links in yellow gold 750/°° entirely made of enamel plique-à-jour red, blue, green turquoise decorated with stylized flower, the leaves set with diamonds cut in rose and splinters of diamonds in a frame of triangles alternating the blue and red in closed setting. Number 1 stamped on the clasp. Two links are in perfect condition, two have missing enamel. The bracelet was probably part of a larger set and bore the number 1. We can compare this work with that of Charles Riffault, a famous enameler who worked for Boucheron in the 1870s and 1880s. His style was characterized by the use of radiant patterns of red, green and blue colors. He obtained the patent for translucent enamel or plique-à-jour at the time and passed it on to Boucheron. "The Belle Epoque of French Jewellery 1850-1910" London, 1990, p. 134. Also to be compared with the piece held by the V&A Museum already mentioned (n° 747-1890) https://collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O120613/bracelet-riffault-charles/ 360 available by copying the link : https://berard-peron.eap-expertise.fr/partage/360/ko268r9kpoh2
