LYCÉE DES ARTS. P.S. by Charles-Émile Gaullard de Saudrais and Pierre Gervais, Paris August 1, 1792; 4 pages folio, tax stamp. Act of constitution of the Lycée des Arts [an establishment that will play a major cultural role during the Revolution, in which will participate, among others, Lavoisier, Condorcet, Parmentier, Dalayrac, etc.] by the lieutenant-colonel and engineer Gaullard de Saudrais and the painter Pierre Gervais, as well as a sieur Jouan (who did not sign), for the foundation of an "establishment in favor of useful and pleasant arts to which will be joined a school of song and dance", in the circus of the Palais-Royal, the lease of which was granted by Louis Philippe Joseph [d'Orléans, Philippe Égalité], French prince, "and the agents of his creditors... Desaudrais and Gervais, administrators, "will alone retain the management of the said enterprise", notably for the nomination of professors, etc. This act, which presents numerous marginal additions, is accompanied by the draft of another act concerning the distribution of the shares, and a note on this subject
