Charles-François Virot, marquis de SOMBREUIL (1727-1794) general, governor of the Invalides, arrested on August 10, he escaped the massacres of September thanks to the courage of his daughter; again arrested, he was guillotined. P.S. Paris March 19, 1792; 1 page in-fol. in part printed, letterhead of the Hôtel royal des Invalides, vignette with the royal arms. Death certificate for Jean Maire, "aged seventy-four, native of Langres in Champagne, received at the said Hôtel on April 28, 1773," who died on January 7, 1791. Attached is a certificate of pension from the Hôtel national des Invalides (July 1, 1793, partly printed, 2 red wax stamps).
