Marbled calf, smooth spine decorated, title and tom. in green marble, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, gilt tr. (binding of the time). Ex-libris René Choppin. Charming collection known as Les Petits conteurs. The first two volumes are devoted to the tales of La Fontaine. Volumes III and IV contain tales by VOLTAIRE, VERGIER, SÉNECÉ, PERRAULT, MONCRIF, DUCERCEAU, GRÉCOURT, AUTEREAU, SAINT-LAMBERT, CHAMFORT, PIRON, DORAT, LA MONNOYE, and FRANÇOIS DE NEUFCHATEAU. The illustration consists of a portrait on the frontispiece, and 116 engraved vignettes in the text, 65 of which are for La Fontaine's tales, most of them by DUPLESSIS-BERTAUX (Cohen, 859.)
