First edition (very rare, according to Clouzot) of this piece of verse, composed on the occasion of the Retour des Cendres, and which will be included in 1841 in a collection of all Hugo's poems dedicated to Napoleon, apart from those of too much legitimist inspiration composed at the beginning of the writer's career (Vicaire IV, 296-297.)
