In-12 porphyry calf, smooth spine decorated with small portraits of profiles in gilt medallions, title page in red and green marble, triple gilt fillet framing the boards with flowers in spandrels, very small gilt royal arms on red maroon medallion added to the center of the boards (the very discreet size of the arms certainly being due to the revolutionary period of the publication), gilt tr. Spine damaged at the tail with missing leather, spine split, some rubbed. 3 beautiful engraved vignettes in the text at the head of each chapter: Prayer to the Blessed Virgin, State of Marriage, State of Celibacy. "TSCHOUDYou TSCHUDI (Théodore Louis, baron de), French litterateur, born around 1724, died in 1769. First, counselor at the Parliament of Metz, then Secretary of the Academy of Moscow and Governor of the Pages in Russia. He is one of the authors to whom the famous " Thérèse Philosophe " has also been attributed." Caillet. He is the author of L'Etoile flamboyante, ou la Société des Francs-Maçons considérée sous tous les aspects (Francfort 1766).
