CERVANTES (Miguel de). History of the admirable Don Quixote de la Mancha. Paris, Claude Barbin, 1681. 5 vol. small in-12 blue morocco, spines richly decorated, title and tomaison gilt, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, filleted edges, inner lace, gilt tr. The 5th and last volume is the one of the edition in 6 volumes of 1696 by Pierre Mortier in Amsterdam (this 5th volume being sometimes added to this edition of 1681 in 4 volumes). The illustration consists of 45 engraved figures out of text (12+6+9+9+9) including the 5 frontispieces. A very nice copy. Very rare and beautiful French edition of Don Quixote translated by Filleau de Saint Martin. "Uncommon, it includes all of Cervantes' Don Quixote. Some curious people add the 5th volume of the Amsterdam edition, P. Mortier, 1696" (Willems). (Brunet, I, 1751; Willems, 1954.)
