Lyon, Cercle lyonnais du livre, 1928. 2 vol. large in-4 the first dark green morocco, plates decorated with concentric circles of cold and gilt fillets arranged in two columns with rectangles of brown mar. and small plates of ivory, cold and gilt fillets on the spine in sheaf, framed in green mar. green with gilt stippling at the corners, eggplant lining and endpapers, gilt on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, in a slipcase with edges; the second volume of suites in half dark green morocco with band, spine decorated as the previous one, gilt on witnesses (J. Anthoine Legrain). 32 color burin engravings and 33 vignettes on wood in monochrome by Daragnès. Edition at 152 copies all on Hollande vellum, of which 120 are nominative; this one printed especially for President Louis BARTHOU, containing : - the colored engraving on page 229 - a complete suite in black of all the states of the plates (from one to five successive states for each) - a complete suite in colors - a suite of various states, some with handwritten notes, illustrations; in total, 57 states - a L.A.S. from J. Anthoine Legrain asking for the support of André Dezarrois, director of the Musée du Jeu de Paume and President of the Blumenthal Foundation, for his candidacy for the Blumenthal Foundation prize (with notes of reply in pencil dated 11/3/1936). - 3 autograph cards of L. Barthou, 2 of which addressed to the bookbinder J. A. Legrain, one about this beautiful mosaic binding. Backs insolated and faded to brown. Superb copy.
