Deleboe, who had translated or thought to translate his name into that of Sylvius (De le boe, Du bois), was professor of practical medicine at the University of Leiden. He was born in 1614 and died in 1672. A detailed analysis of this volume can be found in the Mémoires de Paquot, vol. I, pp. 196 ff.
