Description

BALZAC (Bernard-François Balssa, said). History of rabies, and means to preserve men from it, as in the past. This edition is for the government only; it will not be sent to any newspaper or periodical author. Tours, Imprimerie de Mame, 1810. In-8, [4]-65 pp, marbled fawn basane, smooth spine decorated, red title page, yellow edges (period binding). Small rubs to the headpieces, one corner damaged, otherwise a good copy. Very rare work, which remained out of commerce, and forming the separate edition of a pamphlet already contained in the collection of Balzac's plays of 1807-1809: it is one of the texts, very few in number, composed by Bernard-François Balssa (1746-1829), father of the novelist Honoré de Balzac, when he occupied in Tours the functions of administrator of the Hospital, namely from March 12, 1804 to February 2, 1814.
