ALTILIO (Gabriele). Epitalamio, ristampato con la traduzione di Gian Batista Carminati, in occasione delle faustissime nozze di Sua Eccellenza la Signora D. Eleonora Serra de' Duchi di Cassano, con Sua Eccellenza il Signor principe Barberini Colonna di Sciarra. Naples, Stamperia Simoniana, 1803. In-4, blond half calf, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt fillets and dots, red title page, speckled edges (mid 19th c. binding). A few brown spots. Nice copy. Rare. The Neapolitan humanist Gabriele Altilio (1436-1501) was a diplomat for the Aragonese kings Ferdinand I and Alfonso II of Naples. He was also bishop of Policastro, but is remembered for his epithalams and other neo-Latin compositions. This edition is based on the Italian translation given in 1730 by Giambatusta Carminati, and published at the address of Padua.
