Economist, disciple of Jean-Baptiste Say, and publicist, Adolphe Blanqui (1798-1854) bought in 1830 the prestigious École supérieure de commerce de Paris (founded in 1819), where he was professor of commercial history and political economy. A conservative, in contrast to his brother, the revolutionary socialist Auguste Blanqui (1805-1881), to whom he remained close in spite of everything, he was elected deputy for the Gironde in 1846.
