Description
[Uniforms]. Album containing 118 small engravings of uniforms of foreign armies, Austrian, Prussian, Hungarian, English, etc. (114 measuring 15 x 10 cm and the last 4 measuring 13 x 8.5 cm), all watercolored (c. 1860), extracted from several series of engravings of uniforms in-12 format and laminated at 6 per plate (except the last 4). The first 24 are captioned in French (one bears the mention of edition at Frick in Paris). The next 30 are captioned in German and signed by Anton ("Tony") Strassgschwandtner. The next 48 are again captioned in French (including 1 marked Frick and 1 "drawn and lithographed by Spes"). The next 12 show English uniforms and are captioned in English. The last 4 are not captioned (the first one is monogrammed R.D.). Collection Bernard FRANCK, with his ex-libris and his stamp on the title page. Oblong folio (32 x 44 cm) grey cloth, remainder of title label on spine.
