# SAMBUCIUS (J). EMBLEMATA, ET ALIQUOT NUMMI ANTIQUI OPERIS. Antwerp, ex officina, Chr. Plantin, 1566. In-8 of 272 (288) pages, light-colored basane, spine ribbed (17th century binding). Second edition and the first complete one decorated with an engraved title showing the 9 muses, a portrait of the author with his dog and 221 EMBLEMS of which 55 new finely woodcut after Pieter Huys, Lucas d'Heere and D. van der Borcht. There are also 16 pages of Roman coins placed between pages 256 and 257. Copy trimmed short at the head, fine marginal galling on a few leaves.
