CARTIER Santos 100 XL Chrono watch, mod. 2740, ref. 842560XX, for men. Stainless steel case. Square dial with black Roman numerals and sword type hands with lume. Auxiliary dials for chrono control. Auxiliary window for date calendar between 4 and 5 o'clock. Sapphire crystal. Bezel with eight decorative screws and crown at 3 o'clock, decorated with cabochon sapphire, and flanked by double pusher for chrono control. Original black leather bracelet with hidden double deployant clasp.A utomatic watch with winding Box and booklet enclosed. In working order. Measures: 54 x 46 mm. Cartier would go on to manage the company, and later his three grandsons, Louis, Pierre and Jacques, who would make the Cartier brand world renowned. In 1904 Louis Cartier designed a wristwatch for his friend the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont called "Santos". This model, the first wristwatch for men, was a true innovation for the time and made the company a true prestige brand, being the favourite brand of many celebrities including a large number of royal families. In 1972, the Cartier Paris brand was acquired by a group of investors brought together by Joseph Kanoui and chaired by Robert Hocq. A new collection of watches was created for sale in all Cartier boutiques and selected dealers. In 1973, the company is based on a clear modernity in organisation and the creation of new collections, such as Vermeil watches, leather goods, pens and perfumes.
