Exceptional juxtaposed rifle fired with balls by Devisme in Paris coming from the personal collection of Napoleon III as attested by the inlay on the trigger guard with the crowned "N". Front percussion caps, 600mm damascus barrels in 12 gauge to the pound (18,1mm). Left barrel rifled (long rifling step), bayonet lug on the right. Rifle with three leaves and drifting front sight. This weapon of great luxury is assembled with a mount with English in burr walnut varnished. The buttplate has a trap door revealing two housings drilled in the wood. The latter contain a Devisme explosive zinc bullet (in 1864, the arms manufacturer Devisme patented an explosive bullet with which he tried without success, during the siege of Paris, to shoot Castor and Pollux, the two elephants of the Jardin d'Acclimatation). Four pillars locks, old silver finish with floral and hunting decoration. Iron ramrod, trigger guard with palm rest. Weapon in an exceptional state of freshness. (1)
