First edition, dedicated to Jacques Copeau. One of the first 50 copies on candle paper of the Arches paper mills, not in trade (nº XXXIX). Unique edition of 550 copies. Portrait of the author on the frontispiece of the first volume, engraved with soft varnish by Paul-Albert Laurens and printed on Japanese paper. Autograph note signed on the false-title : " le papier boit André Gide ". Beautiful copy bound at the time in the workshop of Paul Claessens. The endpapers are by (Cf.
