Important and original BIDJAR carpet (Persia), circa 1870/80, woven on woolen chains, proving its antiquity Dimensions : 440 x 283cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. A crenellated hexagonal field, ruby red, serves as a support for an original central medallion in midnight blue, and these floral pendants, in the form of a large diamond, inlaid with polychrome "Herati" motifs. Four prussian blue spandrels with stems and branches, adorned with diamonds and flowers, in profusion, frame the whole. Three borders, two brick and one anthracite, all three with rich garlands of multicolored flowers, are flanked by a wide outer ivory border with floral crenels.
