Important and very beautiful carpet TABRIZ (Persia), end of the 19th century Dimensions : 560 x 350cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. Similar decoration to the Ardebil carpet exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London The star of this carpet is the magnificent ivory polylobed rose, with a turquoise heart, crowned with majestic ornamented petals, placed on a navy field, highlighted with fuchsia, covered with vegetal interlacing, multicolored, all in circonvolutions. Two pendants in the form of oil lamps, lead us to the ends of the carpet, where stand out in each corner, spandrels taking up a quarter of the imposing central decoration. An ivory counter border with bluish branches, another with flowers and "tchis" frame the main fuchsia border where ivory medallions and navy cartouches decorated with polychrome cruciform floral forms are cut.
