KACHAN carpet (Iran), 2nd third of the 20th century Dimensions : 376 x 253cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on cotton foundation. A magnificent rhombus medallion, navy, with multicolored vegetal decoration and its arrowed pendants, are posed on an oblong ruby field, with braces, covered with polychrome floral scrolls. Four spandrels, navy, ivory and sky, with arabesques and flowers, frame the whole. Two sky counter-borders, highlighted ivory, enclose the main navy border, all being garlands of polychrome flowers. Beautiful composition.
