LECLERC Sébastien I (1637-1714) - "Ceres and Cybele on a chariot, Allegory of the Earth". 1670. etching and burin after Charles LE BRUN (1619-1690). Reference: Préaud, n°1591. Proof with the letter on laid paper. Engraving from a series of four plates reproducing the elements (fire, air, water, earth) for André Félibien's book "Tapisseries du Roi, où sont représentent les quatre élémens et les quatre saisons" (Paris, Imprimerie royale, 1670). The Earth is represented here under the features of the two goddesses of nature and fertility, Ceres and Cybele. 37 x 52.5 cm. Condition B (traces of glue on the reverse, a consolidated tear at the foot (in the tablet), slight trace of an old vertical median fold, cut at the border or inside the copper mark but before the square line).
