ORIGINAL EDITION of this collection of 17 poems of struggle and resistance published semi-clandestinely and without censorship visa by Noël Arnaud, main director of the editions of the neo-surrealist group "La main à plume". The first of these poems is the very beautiful and well-known "Liberté". "In May 1942, Noël Arnaud took on the responsibility of publishing, at the Editions de la Main à Plume, under the title Poésie et vérité 1942, La Dernière Nuit and some other poems whose meaning can hardly leave any doubt about the aim pursued: to recover, in order to harm the occupier, the freedom of expression." (Eluard: Œuvres complètes I. Pleiade, p. 1606). A VERY GOOD copy, enriched on the first cover with a handwritten and signed letter from Paul Eluard to José Corti: " à José Corti son ami.
