Emile GALLE (1846 - 1904)

"Heraldic Lion". Important amber transparent glass ceremonial vase, with two openwork handles applied by heat. The ovoid body has a straight shoulder neck and a recessed circular base, hemmed and rubbed with gold. Rich decoration covering a heraldic lion, fleur-de-lys and stylized floral motifs, enamelled polychrome with numerous golden highlights. Signed "E.Gallé à Nancy" enamelled, under the base. Original label "Escalier de Cristal". H : 22 cm, D : 35 cm (minor defects to a handle) An "Heraldic Lion" amber tainted translucent glass vase by Emile Gallé, with two hot applied coves and a rich enamelled decoration of heraldic lions, stylized lily flowers and plants with gold highlights. Signed "E.Gallé à Nancy" under the base. H : 8,66 inch; D : 13,78 inch (a slight default on one cove)
