* RARE SET OF FOUR SCULPTURES Italian neoclassical school, Rome, circa 1780. Oriental onyx, gilt bronze and black marble with grey veins for the for the pedestals. H. from 60,5 cm to 61,5 cm - Base. 19,5cm x 19 cm Spring : missing an arm Autumn : Missing the end of the foot. Missing arm preserved but to be reattached. Small restoration on the right arm of Winter. - Summer : Woman with hair like Ceres, holding on her left arm a sheaf of holding a sheaf of wheat on her left arm. - Autumn : Woman with vine hair, holding a cup on her right hand her right hand and a bunch of grapes in her left hand. - Winter: Woman wearing a knotted scarf. Her right hand seems to to take the heat of a flame. - Spring : Woman wearing flowers, she holds on her left arm a cornucopia a cornucopia with flowers on her left arm. The arms, the head, the attribute and the feet of each statue are in gilded bronze. Oriental onyx or ribboned onyx from Algeria was used in Italy Italy since the 18th century, both for sculptures and for the realization of marble for chests of drawers or consoles.
