PIERRE BERNARD (1730-1788), Master in Paris in 1766 SET OF FOUR CHAIRS AND FIVE ARMCHAIRS Louis XVI period. Carved and gilded beech. Circular stamp of Pierre Bernard. Armchairs : H. 94 cm W. 63,5 cm D. 56 cm - Chairs : H. 91 cm W. 46 cm D. 44 cm Armchairs: the top of a right front leg, glued back. Small shock to the top of a backrest. Old repair on the right front leg for another chair. Wear and chips of gilding gilding on the whole. Braid to be reattached on the seat of two armchairs. This beautiful model has a racket back. It rests on tapered legs, fluted and filleted, those rear are arranged at an angle. The belt is rounded on the front the front and in arch towards the back. It is decorated with a frieze of channels with rudente. The flat backs are friezed with a twisted ribbon that continues on the armrests and to the long armrests for the armchairs. The console armrests rest on a fluted die and are a fluted die and are carved with an acanthus. The whole is beautifully covered with a silk of a silk, lampas in the style of the eighteenth century, with yellow damask background, brocaded decoration of a gnarled branch with flowers, fruits of India and butterflies.
