LOT 54A * LÉONARD BOUDIN (1735-1807) Received master in Paris in 1761 and merchant IMPORTANT CURVED CHEST OF DRAWERS IN LACQUER WITH TWO DRAWERS WITHOUT CROSSBAR Louis XV period, around 1765. H. 88 cm W. 147 cm D. 60 cm The lock entrance on the bottom drawer is missing. Two keys. Restored marble on 20 cm x 4,5 cm. This beautiful piece of furniture bears the stamp of L. Boudin as a trademark of trade more than cabinetmaker. The front is decorated in gold on a black background, with a landscape with six with trees and shrubs, a pagoda, a small bridge and characters characters circulating including a palanquin carried by two men. This vast decoration is surrounded by a superb set of chiseled and gilded bronzes (foliage, scrolls and leather). Four handles are in place, with attachments of a branchage au naturel. The falls are with superbly chiseled rocaille. The hooves are short. The curved sides are surrounded by bronzes. On the right side, the lacquer decoration represents a landscape with several pagodas, one of which is high up on rocks. The left side presents a rock garden with shrubs and stumps. The marble top with triple molding is a Campan grand mélange. As a measure of economy, this rare and very expensive marble was sometimes used in veneer and in surrounding of a stone slab. This marble of the period of the commode is exactly the same as that of the Louis Moreau chest of Louis Moreau (Lot 54B). The stamp of L. BOUDIN is repeated twice on the on the left rear jamb with a swear mark. Provenance : Former Collection of Princess Dorothee of Fürstenberg (1862-1948) whose chest of drawers still bears the label: "Eigentum der Fürstin Dorothée Zur Fürstenberg: property of Princess Dorothée de Fürstenberg. Dorothée de Talleyrand-Périgord, born in 1862 in the castle of Valençay, married in the first marriage Charles Egon IV of of Fürstenberg in 1881. Sold with the possibility of reunion with the following lot 54B
