ALEXANDRE-LOUIS BELLANGÉ (1799-1863) PAIR OF TORCHÈRES About 1820-1825. Gilded bronze and porcelain mount of Paris on a core of oak oak and amaranth and mahogany. H. 114,5 cm Dim. of the base. 37 x 39 cm Good condition. A tray is to be reattached on four screws without lack, nor nor accident. No screws on the small foliage brackets serving as feet feet that suggest the presence of small wheels. wheels. These torchères created by Bellangé could present very slight differences either in the use of the wood or with a floral floral motif painted differently. Provenance: This pair is part of a set of four purchased between 1821 and 1826 by King George IV, one of which is still kept at Windsor Castle. Windsor Castle. It is probably one of the two pairs offered by the king to Lady Conyngham, the second pair having been sold by Christie's.
