RECTANGULAR TRAY IN MARQUETRY OF HARD STONES AND SOME MOTHER-OF-PEARL AND SOME MOTHER-OF-PEARL SURROUNDING AN OVAL MICRO-MOSAIC Italy, first half of the XIXth century for the center. The frame is later and made around 1880. Tray : 80,5 x 106,5 cm Micro-mosaic : 35 x 44 cm The surround of the plate itself is made with a blade of wrought iron of the same width width. 3 cm The micro-mosaic represents the doves of Pliny, sometimes called "the doves of the capitol". It is a decoration inspired of a Roman mosaic discovered in the Villa of Hadrian Villa of Hadrian next to Tivoli and exposed in the Capitoline Museum in Rome.
