Probably Russia 18th/19th c. Egg tempera over chalk ground on wood. Saint Nicholas with opened bible and blessing gesture, surrounded by Christ and Mary on cloud banks. H. 33,5, w. 25,5 cm. Saint Nicholas is one of the most venerated saints of the Orthodox Church, as he assists the faithful in sickness and is credited for the often miraculous healing of the sick. - Good overall impression. Signs of age. Partial small paint flaws (ca. 5 mm - 2,5 cm). D
