Contemporary paperback (somewhat worn and rubbed). ADB IV, 751, Prince I, 195, VD18 11113782 (5th ed.). - Collective volume with three important grammatical works of the famous Hebraist. - The text partly in Hebrew and Syriac script. - J. A. Danz (1654-1727) was professor of oriental languages in Jena from 1685 and professor of theology from 1710. - "He sought to bring into the treatment of Hebrew grammar a systematic approach appropriate to the school ... Among his grammatical writings are to be mentioned: "Nucifrangibulum", 1686, "Medakdek, litterator ebraeo-chaldaeus etc.", 1696, the syntax under the title: "Thurgeman s. interpres ebraeo-chaldaeus etc.", 1696 ... His extremely artificial teaching on vocalism in Hebrew, which is alien to the spirit of the language, is peculiar (cf. especially Vater, Hebr. Sprachlehre, 1797. Preface p. 12 ff.). He was also a connoisseur of other dialects, especially the rabbinic ones, as his "Rabbinismus enucleatus" testifies. - He treated Syriac in his "Aditus Syriae reclusus etc.", 1689, often reprinted" (Siegfried in ADB). - Free endpapers renewed, contemporary. Ownership note a. V. u. T., title page partly more dusty and somewhat stained, throughout somewhat stained, few leaves with marginal tears (without loss of text).
