USTC 678318, VD16 C 720. - Important homiletic work of the saint and church teacher of the Catholic Church Petrus Canisius, here in 2nd edition from 1593. He was the first Dutch Jesuit and an important pioneer of the Counter-Reformation. - 2) Thomas Stapleton: Kirchen- und Haußpostill, Oder Catholisches Zeughauß (1596). German translation by Aegidius Sturz of the Promptuarium Catholicum by Thomas Stapleton (1535 - 1598), here in 2nd German edition of 1596. - Canisius "Notae" with woodcut title vignette, title page of Stapleton's "Haußpostill" in red and black, both works with decorative moldings and initials. Binding rubbed and bumped. Paper darkened, 1 vacatblatt rear detached. Isolated marginalia. Otherwise still very good condition with tight binding. With stamp and spine signature of a dissolved monastic library.
