ROUSSEL, Raymond.

How I wrote some of my books. Paris, Librairie Alphonse Lemerre, 1935. In-12 [197 x 147] with a portrait, (4) ff. the first blank, 445 pp. and (1) f. : paperback, filled cover. First edition: it is illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author, from a photograph taken in Milan in October 1896. Rare copy on japon (n° 8). If Raymond Roussel's books on Japan paper are not rare, the author having paid for their publication, it is not the same for Comment j'ai écrit certains de mes livres, which is posthumous. By revealing his writing practice, Raymond Roussel ceased to be only a "weirdo". "By opening his laboratory, as it were, he offered those who had been fascinated or simply intrigued by his books a thread to try to solve the enigmas that his posthumous opus would not have elucidated" (Raymond Josué-Seckel, En français dans le texte, p. 316).
