Copy offered by André Gide to the future author of Le Grand Meaulnes and "young" recruit of the NRF: to Alain Fournier // with kind regards // André Gide
The books dedicated to Alain Fournier (1886-1914) are extremely rare. The young writer met André Gide in 1908 when he had just published a few poems, essays and stories.
Their relationship was difficult, as Alain-Fournier confessed: "I will never interest him, nor will he interest me much. I am not his disciple; I am not an abstract mind."
Cover detached. Some minimal foxing.
