In-12 [184 x 132] of 104 pp, (2) ff. the last one blank : khaki box janseniste, smooth spine, khaki velvet lining and endpapers bordered with a grey box listel, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, khaki box spine and cover bands folder, bordered case (J.P. Miguet). First edition: it is illustrated with a portrait of the author by Eugène Maccown, woodcut by G. Aubert. The novel is one of the symptoms of "this new disease of the century", diagnosed by Marcel Arland. René Crevel (1900-1935) reveals his obsessions and his penchant for suicide. ONE OF 25 EXEMPLIES ON OLD Dyed JAPAN (EX. L), . They are accompanied by a large-margin proof, numbered and signed by Aubert and Maccown. A very nice copy. The large margin proof, numbered 12/25, is preserved in a slipcase and a spine and bands folder of the same box as the binding.
