Confidant of Jean Cocteau whom he met in 1912, he remained linked with him all his life: "You know that I do not like to bring a book into the world without having it baptized by you", he was to declare. Cocteau also alluded to his friend without naming him in Le Potomak where he is referred to as "a priest who helps me."
