FIRST EDITION OF THIS "SURREALIST DRAMA" PERFORMED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON JUNE 24, 1917 IN PARIS.
It is illustrated with seven full-page drawings by Serge Férat, one of which is repeated on the cover. There is also a reproduction of the score by Germaine Albert-Birot for the overture.
The painter Serge Férat (1881-1958) designed the sets and costumes; the music was composed by the musician and poet Germaine Albert-Birot (1877-1931), whose husband Pierre Albert-Birot, founder of the magazine SIC in 1916, was the director.
This copy is enriched on the first blank page with the autograph signatures of
Germaine Albert-Birot, Guillaume Apollinaire, Philippe Soupault and the actress
Louise-Marion, interpreter of the roles of Thérèse-Tirésias and the Cartomancienne.
The latter is the dedicatee of one of the five poems at the head: "Louise Marion, you were admirable // Inflating your multiple nipples with a brand new spirit."
Philippe Soupault played the role of prompter during the only performance.
An uncut copy in good condition despite some stains on the cover.
