A POTTERY VESSEL WITH ACROBATS, HAN DYNASTY China, Han dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). Modeled as two acrobats in handstand, holding the rim of the vessel, their feet touching in the air, the vessel standing on three sturdy feet, with remnants of black paint. Provenance: Dr. Mons Fischer private collection. Being a seasoned private collector of modern and contemporary art, Dr. Mons Fischer has acquired fine Chinese works of art since the 1980s, eventually building one of the most important collections of its kind in Austria. Condition: Overall good condition, commensurate with age as expected from Han dynasty excavations. Encrustations, repairs, and extensive wear to the pigments.
