Nine fragments of tiles with metallic lustre decoration, Ilkhanid Iran, late 13th - early 14th centuryFragments of tiles with molded epigraphic decoration, enhanced with cobalt and set against a background of metallic lustre decoration with birds in foliage. Three have a geometric frieze on the edge. 27 x 33.7 cmFragments mounted in a framed coating. These fragments are stylistically close to the covering tiles from the mausoleum of Shaykh Abd al-Samad in Natanz (1308), some of which are preserved in the Louvre Museum (AD 7638), on which the heads of the birds have been hammered out.
