ALBERT LEBOURG (1849-1928) Study of cats (recto) Sketch of rider and galloping horse (verso) Charcoal on paper Signed, dated and dedicated 'A Lebourg à son ami Bonhomme 1918' lower center, on the front 30.5 x 23 cm Charcoal on paper Signed, dated and dedicated 'ALebourg a son ami Bonhomme 1918' lower center, on the front 12 x 9.1 in. Provenance: M. Bonhomme, Pont-du-Château (gift of the artist, in 1918). Private collection, Paris. Mr. François Lespinasse has confirmed the authenticity of this work. During the bombardments of the Big Bertha on Paris between March and August 1918, Albert Lebourg found refuge at his friend M. Bonhomme in Auvergne, in Pont-du-Château. He dedicated several works to him during this period, including the present drawing.
