Woman with Snakes [Miss Dorita?]. No place or date [ca. 1930].
Silver print [23 x 16.7 cm], stamp of the Société générale de la presse on the back.
Curious image showing two snakes in a bathtub, a woman caressing them: it is probably Mademoiselle Dorita, snake charmer, who was notably photographed in 1930 by Man Ray for a famous cover of the magazine Vu.
The image is reproduced in the catalog of the surrealist exhibition of 1938 at the Galerie des Beaux-
Arts in the section "la femme surréaliste" as well as in the album Eluard de la Pléiade.
Some defects.
Handwritten note in pencil on the back: "Dali. NY Surrealist Exhibition."
